After a three-month interruption to the building work – so that the big exhibitions of Swissbau and BASELWORLD could be staged - the second and final main construction phase is now starting in April. The old sections of building are being completely demolished, and the new complex will have been completed by February 2013. Up to eight construction cranes will be operating during certain stages of the work, accompanied for a short time by eight further mobile cranes and 20 articulated telescopic platforms.
By September the building shell, made up of huge quantities of steel and concrete, will be in place already. Partially overlapping with this – between August and December – the interior will be fitted out, the facade cladding put definitively in place and the roof greened over.
