If the participants at the 10th Annual Biocontrol Industry Meeting ABIM in the Congress Center Basel (CCB) pull out their smartphones, then this is not due to a lack of interest in what is going on around them. This congress, which is being staged from 19 to 21 October 2015, is benefitting from a dedicated app which has been set up for the second time, offering a large number of useful features. "This added value, enabling participants to have the programme, room plans and also a diary for 1-to-1 meetings with them all the time is something we wished to have – and which, indeed, has been provided for us! We enjoyed an excellent working relationship with the Congress Center Basel and Mobile Event Guide", stresses Anne Merz, Congress Secretary ABIM, highlighting the importance of the app for her as the organiser. Mobile Event Guide (MEG) is a partner of the CCB, specialised in presenting traditional event brochures on mobile phones.
Accompanied all along the way
The customised tool for 1-to-1 meetings allows congress participants to arrange meetings with other visitors online. Last year's ABIM app was downloaded by 382 people. This successful project is coordinated by the CCB team, which acts as the link between the organiser and MEG. The organisers receive full support from MEG at each individual stage of the app's development.
Congress apps are a prime example of the CCB's innovative spirit
. And organisers are able to benefit from this from the very first brainstorming session right through to a congress schedule planned down to the very last detail and the post-event evaluation.
