"Dolce far niente" is the motto of many of those who travel to Italy. While the Congress Center Basel (CCB) team's visit to the Expo Milano certainly involved taking time off regular work, it certainly didn't amount to a couple of days of being idle. Each year, the management of the CCB organises an "Edutainment" excursion. And Milan was an obvious choice for this year's outing. The world exhibition Expo Milano 2015 is being staged there up until the end of October.
Upon arrival in Milan, we first enjoyed a guided tour through different pavilions before setting off to explore the site by ourselves. The second day was devoted to the impressive MiCO Milano Congressi, one of Europe's most important and biggest congress infrastructures. To ensure that the entertainment aspect was not neglected either, the team paid a visit to the tourist attraction of Milan's Cathedral Square and indulged in typical Italian paninis.
In the midst of the storm
The highlight of our Expo visit was a special tour of the Kuwaiti pavilion, with its motto "Challenge of Nature", that Winkler Multi Media Events had put up in record time. The CCB's sister company also took charge of our exclusive guided tour, which included a look behind the scenes. "The Miracle of Water" room features rain, lightning and thunder all at the same time. And the illusion was perfect thanks to the ingenious sound effects and twelve projectors. On our return to Basel, we took back many insights into the miracles of modern event technology with us.
The CCB is in constant competition with other destinations for international events. This is why investments in employee development and team development of this type are all the more valuable, enabling us to measure ourselves against other locations in future too.
