69th Congress of the International Fiscal Association (IFA)

Anyone looking through the annals of Messe Basel will find an entry for the meeting of the International Fiscal Association with a couple of hundred participants back in 1960. The picture in the Congress Center Basel (CCB) at the start of September this year was a somewhat different one: around 2500 financial experts from all over the world met for five days and together faced up to the challenges confronting finance and tax legislation in the light of increasing internationalisation. The IFA congress is the sector's biggest and most important rendezvous worldwide and brings more than 10,000 overnight stays to the different city hosting it each year.

Their own museum night
The stringent technical requirements were mastered brilliantly by MCH subsidiary Winkler Multi Media Events together with the CCB team. Alongside a large number of CCB rooms, use was also made of the rooms at the Swissôtel located in the same building, combined in an optimum configuration. A further challenge involved compiling an exclusive accompanying programme – which was to be just as unique as the event itself. Amongst other delights, congress participants were able to experience an exclusive Basel Museum Night, which included a shuttle service between the high-class, regional cultural venues of the Beyeler, Tinguely and Vitra museums. The accompanying programme was rounded off with an exquisite gala dinner in the Event Hall at Messe Basel.

The CCB team is delighted to have shown itself to be a successful congress location once again and one that in no way lags behind the big congress destinations in an international comparison.
