The CCB team as a whole is responsible for ensuring that the 250 or so events held in the Congress Center Basel (CCB) each year are staged to the satisfaction of their organisers. At the same time, each organiser has a project manager as their personal contact, who is in charge of making sure arrangements run smoothly for the event .
Vanessa Nicolosi and Nicolas Widmer are project managers in the Congresses & Events team. They constitute the link between the organiser and all the different areas of the CCB, from the planning stage right through to implementation.
Baptism of fire with a Federal Councillor
Vanessa Nicolosi, with her gift for languages, has been a member of the CCB team since April this year. After obtaining a bachelor's degree specialising in tourism, Vanessa, who is an Italian national through and through, spent several years coordinating trade fair appearances in Germany. After switching to another employer, this enthusiastic globetrotter then organised her new company's participation in congresses, as well as its own events. Vanessa is similarly a talented musician, playing the clarinet in Basel's Stadtmusik orchestra.
Nicolas Widmer, who holds a Swiss federal diploma as a hotelier, got used to the hectic event business when he worked in the VIP section of a big catering company. For five years, this junior football team coach was an assistant to the management of FC Basel 1893. He passed his baptism of fire at the CCB (after starting work in July 2015) with the successful staging of the annual conference on development cooperation, which was attended by Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter, among others. And, as behoves someone born in Basel, our qualified ski instructor is also a drummer in the "Alti Richtig" carnival clique.
