Despite its still-young history, the Event Hall at Messe Basel
is already well-known to a broad public on account of consumer shows, concerts, gala dinners and company meals. Its big trump card is its multifunctionality, and that is now increasingly the winning card for congresses too. A good example is the congress held by the International Fiscal Association (IFA). Maurus Winzap, who presided over that event, says “both in the formal setting of the opening ceremony and the emotional ambiance of the gala dinner with its accompanying show, the Event Hall provided the perfect opening and closing highlights for our congress”. Two features that have made their mark on the memories of those present are the elaborately stage-managed show act, which accompanied the dinner, and the impressively choreographed branding on the LED display strip across the foyer. This panel of light has become a major eye-catcher in the district around the exhibition ground. It gives organisers the opportunity to present logos, mottos or even entire promotional clips to a spellbound public.
“The Event Hall offered an optimum combination of catering, poster displays and sophisticated stands. Not least, it is convenient and quick to nip over the footbridge and be in the generously dimensioned seminar rooms of the Congress Center Basel,” is how Andreas Buser, who presided over the annual congress held by the German Society for Transfusion Medicine and Immunohaematology (DGTI), reports on his experience in looking back over an extremely successful event. Buser is, of course, referring to the direct link between the Event Hall and the Congress Center Basel (CCB), a further positive feature, guaranteeing the parallel use of both sets of rooms and making it possible for the CCB to put on congresses with up to 5000 participants.
During the autumn, which was packed full of events, the multifunctional Event Hall with its 3300 square metres furnished clear evidence that it is ideal not only for the usual plenary sessions, concerts, gala dinners and exhibitions but also for combinations with congresses and conferences. Another contributory factor is the MCH Lounge, which is located directly in the foyer of the Event Hall and offers additional possibilities for functions that are being staged in the Event Hall.
