Every year, the Drug Information Association DIA holds its meeting at a different location. To mark the 30th anniversary of the DIA Europe meeting, the Congress Center Basel (CCB) had the honour of welcoming some 2000 participants from all over Europe from 17 to 19 April. Basel is home to the DIA European headquarters.
The 900 djembé drums that were played simultaneously by the congress participants for the opening session made for a unique and highly emotional start. "The way everyone worked together was highly inspiring. We were jointly able to implement a large number of innovative ideas in terms of material, signage, technology and furniture", says CCB project manager Susanne Pfefferle, looking back at DIA Europe 2018. All the available rooms at the CCB were used for the wide range of different event formats.
Creative stage elements
DIA Europe is unique in that it brings together the entire healthcare value chain. Whether politics and regulations, research and development, marketing or economic developments: all the different areas unite to form a valuable network here. The DIA is the only organisation in the world that has set itself the aim of bringing together experts in the development of healthcare products, allowing them to pool their findings and take forward measures for the development of healthcare products and lifecycle management.
The innovations that helped make this leading health conference into a genuine experience, true to the motto "Join Us at the Crossroads of Healthcare", include the creative stage setups. For the branding, digital elements were combined with "tangible" features to form a convincing whole. In Hall 4U, a fascinating exhibition with state-of-the-art ePosters depicted on the CCB screens delighted those who came. "The Congress Center Basel is an excellent location. The infrastructure is ideal and the working relationship perfect. In future, DIA Europe will only be rotating between different locations, and one of these will be Basel", says Magdalena Daccord, Head of operations EMEA. Cathy Persidis, Senior Conference Manager at DIA additionally highlights: "My work was made easier with the support and collaboration of the fantastic team at the CCB!".
